"It Might As Well Have Been $1 Million."
In 2017, Matthew Hogan was at the Arizona Man Camp when the customary offering for Light for the Lost was being taken. Matthew hadn’t written anything on his faith promise form. But he felt the Holy Spirit tell him to write down $1,000.
“My first thought was, living on disability, that $1,000 might as well be $1 million," he said. "But the tug on my heart didn’t go away.”
Matthew wrote down a faith promise of $1,000 and turned it in.
The following week, he was at a fundraiser where his name was entered for a chance to win a free Honda motorcycle. Guess who won the motorcycle? Yes, Matthew.
The motorcycle Matthew Hogan won in the fundraiser drawing, which enabled him to fulfill his $1,000 faith promise to LFTL.
Matthew Hogan is a pro bono personal and family counselor in Arizona.
Unable to keep it, Matthew wondered what to do with such a nice prize. But his daughter fell in love with the beautiful bike and asked if she could have it. Matthew replied, “I’ll make you a deal. If you pay my $1,000 faith promise to Light for the Lost, the bike is yours.” She agreed.
As we travel the U.S. inviting people to partner with LFTL, we see God do miraculous things in the lives of people who commit to do the unthinkable, unexpected, or impossible in their missions giving. It’s true that we can’t out-give God!
Matthew says, “God led me to do the unthinkable in making that pledge, and then He handled it himself just a week later.”
This story is a tribute to everyone who has committed and given to support LFTL on faith this year. There are hundreds of “Matthews” in the LFTL family, and we are grateful for each one.
May God bless you and keep you this month, and may He give you the faith to believe that He will do what He says He will do through your ministry of giving.
