Modern Tech Brings Christ to Rural Herdsmen

October 18, 2024

In one restricted access country, thousands of people live in rural areas with their herds of livestock. They are very isolated and often illiterate.

How can they be reached for Christ?

A missionary* found a solution, using Light for the Lost funds to purchase and distribute Hi-Rice SD-111 portable audio devices, with pre-loaded evangelistic messages on them to
churches. In one mountain town, dozens of people heard the gospel on one of the devices a shepherd was carrying.

(Above) Pastors in this sensitive nation showed us the portable devices supplied by Light for the Lost and our local missionary. Each one has preloaded gospel messages and Bible teachings. Hundreds of rural herdsmen are requesting these devices.

(Above) Here is a sample of the audio devices we're using in this sensitive nation to bring the gospel and Bible content to herdsmen in very rural areas.

They learned the unique devices were available at a local Christian church and came as a group to ask for one so they could listen on their own pastures.

“The [devices] get the Bible and gospel content to people in extremely remote places who otherwise wouldn’t be able to hear a gospel message preached to them,” says the missionary. “It was a huge blessing to be able to give them to churches to distribute. This has been a powerful tool for evangelism.”
