LFTL Adopts Buddhist-Hindu Priority
Light for the Lost is adopting the Buddhist-Hindu Priority (BHP) as a major evangelism funding initiative and is seeking partnership with people, businesses, and churches to help resource this initiative.
With more than two billion Buddhists and Hindus on earth, the task to fulfill the mission of Christ to "seek and save the lost" (Luke 19:10, NIV) is immense, but it must be done. Carl Henry famously observed, "The gospel is only good news if it gets there in time."
In the time it takes to read this article, it will have been too late for thousands. About 157,000 people die each day. About 31 percent of them live in places where they have NO access to the gospel. Many are Buddhists and Hindus who spent their entire lives praying to spirits, demons, and false gods.
"This fact should break the hearts of every Christian," says Dan Kersten, Director of Communications for Light for the Lost. "There are too many people on Earth who still have no access to the gospel in a language they can understand. This is why LFTL is so passionate about helping global workers everywhere with resources they need for evangelism."
Assemblies of God World Missions established the Buddhist-Hindu Priority (BHP) as a concerted effort to raise awareness of 1) what subscribers to these faith systems believe, and 2) the many opportunities that exist to deliver the gospel of Jesus Christ to them right where they live.
Light for the Lost wants to invest heavily in numerous pioneer evangelism and church planting opportunities in Peninsular Asia, India, and the Pacific. Both printed and internet-based evangelism resources in numerous languages are needed by global workers assigned to BHP in those areas.
"With the help of God's people who really, truly understand and live for the Great Commission, I believe we can make a huge difference for many thousands or even millions of souls," says Rick Allen, National Light for the Lost Director. "We have the right people in the right places, and I think that millions of Buddhists and Hindus are ready to receive the gospel of Jesus. So let's get to work!"
